Iya Imura is an installation and performance artist who deals with ideas involving Eastern philosophy through Western standpoints. Her work integrates Western interpretations of Zen and other Eastern philosophies. an examination of nostalgia and fantastical desire by the Westerner is used to break any stereotypes and romanticized assumptions of another culture. Her recent works have involved her own body as a performative element, as well as audience participation.
