Tear It Down 2019 is an ephemeral group art exhibition on poster kiosks from November 2019 until January 2020. Participating artists were asked to create works in response to Vancouver’s unaffordability and housing precarity. The resulting posters address themes of access and accessibility; body and belonging; class and security.

About the artists

@fucknovancouver is a so called Vancouver based memer and artist. She hopes her plants make it through the winter and that you do too. @fucknovancouver on Instagram

Hue Nguyen is a multidisciplinary artist residing on the territory currently known as Vancouver, British Columbia. Their practice focuses on film, publishing, and textiles, and is rooted in their experience as a queer, first generation Vietnamese-Canadian. They address topics of race, intergenerational trauma, and migration. These issues are explored within a western political atmosphere, critiquing the white hegemonic state and its role within the livelihood of a marginalized populace. @milkmess on Instagram

Dana Kearley (b. 1987) is a multidisciplinary artist, illustrator, and jewellery designer on unceded territory belonging to the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. Her work is inherently autobiographical, dealing predominantly with themes of chronic invisible illnesses, disability, mental health, and tenderness. Previously she has illustrated for Lunapads, Discorder Magazine, Sad Mag, and GUTS Magazine and participated in Art Waste group shows, (2015, 2016). More recently, Dana has exhibited at the Vancouver Art Book Fair (2018), Vancouver Arts and Comics Festival (2019), and Canzine West (2019). @danakearley on Instagram

MT Mann is interested in the therapeutic aspects involved in processes of play, engagement, and dialogue, including movement towards empathetic inquiry and compassionate connection, with self, community, and surroundings. This motion is propelled through consideration of the various impulses that arrive in and between both our real and imagined worlds, as well as how we individually and collectively choose to receive and respond to their unfolding. MT is currently based in Vancouver, on the unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples. @mock_turtleneck on Instagram

Sydney Ball has spent the last few years working towards broad-based tenant organizing on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. She writes and thinks with the Editorial Collective at The Mainlander.

And a special thank you to Ricky Castanedo-Laredo for poster design assistance.
