The ApologyBook launch and opening, Friday December 30, 8 pm.

The Apology is a new media installation featuring rare colour footage from 1941 Vancouver. This work juxtaposes the modern city with Aboriginal Children at an undisclosed Residential School and with a voice over of the Apology by Stephen Harper to the First Nations, Inuit and Metis People of Canada, producing a multi-layered response to the production and reconsideration of contemporary history.

This work can be viewed nightly in the front window of UNIT/PITT Projects, 15 E Pender St., Vancouver. Screenings begin after sunset and continue until 11 pm, seven days a week.

Chris Bose is a writer, multi-disciplinary artist, musician and filmmaker. He is a war party baby born of the N’laka’pamux and Secwepemc Nations in BC, and currently spends his time in Kamloops BC.

This commission is curated by Cease Wyss.

The Apology is part of the UNIT/PITT series Ill Repute, a Vancouver 125 project with additional support from The BC Arts Council. UNIT/PITT Projects gratefully acknowledges the support of the City of Vancouver, the British Columbia Arts Council, the Canada Council, and the support of our donors, members, volunteers and of our community of artists and cultural workers.
