236 East Pender, March 2013Donate Now!

Unit/Pitt is pleased to announce that we have just signed a 15-year lease on a new location. The new building, at 236 East Pender Street, was formerly occupied by a grocery (and after that, a herbalist), and will provide us with a larger and better-equipped presentation space (indoor plumbing!), room onsite for our office and storage, and space for some of our members and partners.

Getting to this point was not easy. In 2009, many in our community assumed that the Pitt was gone for good. Not only have we survived and relaunched, we have increased our capacity for innovative exhibitions, screenings, radio, music, and publishing. We owe our community a lot, for their — for your — support over the past four years. But if we’re going to make this work, and put the Pitt on a secure footing for more exploration and experimentation in the future, we’re going to need your support now more than ever.

Please donate whatever you can. We’ll use your assistance to offset the costs of materials, moving, and generally equipping and renovating the new space. You can donate to us directly by mail or in person, or online through CanadaHelps.

IMPORTANT: if you have not claimed a tax deduction for charitable donations within the past five years, your donation to the Pitt today may make you eligible for the “First-time Donor’s Super Credit”  introduced in the recent federal budget.

We’ll continue to operate at 15 East Pender Street while we get the new building ready. We’ll be posting updates as we make progress on the new space.
