Wrong Wave Festival 2022 will begin on July 5 with a special silver screen edition of Symphony of Fire, an experimental music and video festival. You make a video, send it to us, we screen it. Submissions will be screened on Tuesday, July 5 at The Cinematheque (1131 Howe Street, Vancouver) at 7pm.

Symphony of Fire is an inclusive festival that is genre-less. We accept applications of all musical styles, backgrounds, video quality, fame, notoriety or anonymity. International submissions are very encouraged. Submissions are open until Monday, June 27 at 5pm

That being said we have a few guidelines: We will make room for those who make room for others so racist, sexist, ableist, homo/bi/queer/trans-phobic etc videos are unwelcome. If we deem the video to be any of the aforementioned, we will invite you to give context if you do not agree with our sentiments.

All music videos screened at Symphony of Fire must be NEW and previously unscreened to a mass audience. This festival is for new material. Because this edition will be shown in a cinema, there are recommended export formats for your video: Click Here For Video Delivery Specifications

IMPORTANT: The music video you make is a fan video, therefore go wild, if you want to make a music video for a local artist, ok, if you want to make a Prince music video, ok. If you are making a video for someone you could know, ask them! If it’s a video for someone famous, go for it! If you have an older video that was a pain to make or required some new DIY technology and you’d like to share your story, please email us a link to the video.

To submit or ask questions, email symphonyoffiresubmissions@gmail.com

NOTE: Participants will receive a screening fee TBD based on number of submissions we receive.

This edition of Symphony of Fire is part of Wrong Wave Festival 2022, curated by Liquidation World Collective and presented by UNIT/PITT. This year’s Wrong Wave presents a cross section of west coast art rock, experimental and visual art, film and DIY venue culture, and is generously funded through CCA’s Arts Across Canada program.
