Doors at 8pm

8:30: Territorial welcome by Audrey Siegl
from the Musqueam First Nation

The Opening will include:
– 43 Years of Unruly Criticality: Projected selections from the UNIT/PITT Archives

– Improvised music with 8EAST Musician partners Peggy Lee (cello), Dylan van der Schyff, Kenton Loewen (drums), JP Carter (trumpet), Torsten Muller (bass), and Lisa Cay Miller (piano).

8EAST, a joint project of the New Orchestra Workshop (NOW) Society and the UNIT/PITT Society for Art and Critical Awareness, will serve as a meeting place and venue for musicians and visual artists.

8EAST will present concerts, artists talks, readings, workshops and screenings. We want to create a safe and inspiring space for the sharing of culture and ideas. We endorse the principles of inclusion and anti-discrimination.

We will also operate a retail store for the sale of books, audio recordings, editions, scores and other items produced by the artists, musicians, writers and cultural workers in our community.

Door donations will assist with renovations of the space.
