Warren McLachlan: Structure for Observing Atypical Flight

UNIT/PITT is inaugurating a series of works presented on the exterior of our building with Warren McLachlan’s Structure for Observing Atypical Flight, which can be viewed from the street in front of 236 East Pender.

These sculptural works are intended as habitats for local birds and bats, and originated with the Corbin Union collective’s observations of wildlife at their studio/residency in Corbin BC, a ghost town located in the East Kootenays. The project began there in 2012.

The dichotomies of day and night, visible and invisible, living and non-living, are key to this ongoing investigation.
