As you know, UNIT/PITT moved to a new location earlier this year. The interior of the new building, at 236 E. Pender Street, has undergone tremendous renovations since we moved in—new floors, white walls, wiring and lights,  plumbing repairs, and at last, heating. The studios upstairs and downstairs are now fully occupied, and a few exhibitions have already taken place in the new gallery space. We’ve come a long way since we began our move. Things are rolling along smoothly and this is, in part, thanks to you.

To those of you who have shown support by donating to UNIT/PITT, we’d like to express our utmost gratitude. We owe our community a lot for standing by us, particularly since our near death and subsequent revival in 2009—a time at which many thought the Pitt was gone for good. Not only did we survive — we’ve managed to increase our capacity for innovative exhibitions, screenings, radio, music, and publishing. If we’re going to make this work, and keep UNIT/PITT operating on secure footing, we’re going to need your support now more than ever.

There are a number of different ways you can help. We’ve got an online shop of publications, the most recent being Arnaud Desjardin’s three reissues of The Fox. Making a purchase will show your support. You can also show your support by becoming a member of the UNIT/PITT Society for Art and Critical Awareness.

Ultimately, what will make the greatest difference is a donation of whatever you can. We’ll use your assistance to offset the costs of materials to further equip, renovate, and maintain the new space. You can donate to us directly by mail, in person, or online through CanadaHelps.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have not claimed a tax deduction for charitable donations within the past five years, your donation to UNIT/PITT may make you eligible for the “First-time Donor’s Super Credit” introduced in the recent federal budget.

If you haven’t already, stop by the space and see how far we’ve come. UNIT/PITT appreciates all of your support!
