Wrong Wave is back! The eighth instalment of UNIT/PITT’s art rock, experimental and visual art festival will happen this July 2022. Curated by Liquidation World Collective, Wrong Wave 8 will be a month-long, multi-site celebration of emerging and underground art scenes.

Wronger Wave is a parallel series of music, visual art, film and publishing events and exhibitions that will be promoted as an extension of the main festival. Happenings selected for Wronger Wave will receive additional financial support from UNIT/PITT and will be added to festival promotions, including a limited edition festival catalogue and posters.

We are now accepting applications for Wronger Wave, juried by UNIT/PITT’s Programming Committee. Successful applicants will receive between $50-$1000 to support their programming.

Who can apply

This call is open to individuals, collectives and organizations in the Lower Mainland or Vancouver Island regions who are hosting events and exhibitions between July 1-31, 2022. The happenings must share the Wrong Wave 8 ethos and mission to showcase emerging and/or experimental creative work. To be eligible, the event or exhibition must already be confirmed, meaning that the venue is secured, the dates are set, and the artists or collaborators are confirmed.

The intention of Wronger Wave is to provide a financial boost to increase artist fees, fund introductions, talks or panel discussions, or support additional promotional materials, and not to fund the creation of new exhibitions.

How to apply

Send an email to submit@unitpitt.ca with the following information:

  1. A short introduction about yourself or your collective/organization (100-200 words);
  2. A short statement detailing the event and/or exhibition happening in July 2022, and how it fits with Wrong Wave 8 (100-250 words);
  3. Any promotional material that has already been created for your event and/or exhibition;
  4. The requested amount between $50-$1000, and one or two sentences about how the funds will be spent;
  5. One or two links to other events or exhibitions that you or your collective/organization has coordinated.

The deadline to apply is Friday, April 15 at 4pm PST. All applicants will be notified of their results by April 30.

Please note, successful applicants may not receive the full amount requested. Additionally, the Programming Committee may follow up with applicants for more information as needed.
